Ouse Burn Way – Project Update April 2026

• Since starting in January, I’ve been working closely with the project board and a wide range of partners across the Ouse Burn vision area to shape the Ouse Burn Way project and move the vision forward. A big part of this has been the endorsement of the OBW Improvement Plan by Newcastle City Council.
• A key focus so far has been understanding what’s already going on along the river, spotting where the project can support great work that’s already happening, filling any gaps, and sourcing funding to deliver the bigger, more ambitious and complex pieces of work.
• Getting this stage right is really important to make a real difference for the river, wildlife, local organisations and people. Making sure the project continues to be driven by the community is key, so I’m keen to keep building on the ways in which you, and other members of the community who live, work and spend time around the river, can have your say as we move forward.
