Peter Rabbit™ brings families along the Ouse Burn Way

Families exploring the Ouse Burn Way this summer have an extra reason to get outdoors, with Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne bringing colourful sculptures, creativity and family fun to locations across Newcastle and North Tyneside until September 14th 2026.

The free art trail, organised by St Oswald’s Hospice, features 43 large Peter Rabbit sculptures alongside smaller Fluffles, encouraging people to explore the city while raising vital funds for the hospice.

Several of the sculptures can be found along or close to the Ouse Burn Way, making the trail a great way to combine a walk with a bit of wildlife spotting and sculpture hunting.

Look out for Big Peter Rabbit sculptures at Paddy Freeman Park, Jesmond Dene, The Cycle Hub, The Space, Ouseburn Farm, St George’s Terrace, Gosforth Central Park and Gosforth High Street.

There are also indoor sculptures and Fluffles to discover at Seven Stories, The Biscuit Factory and The Space at St Oswald’s Hospice, providing plenty of opportunities to explore the Ouseburn and surrounding areas.

The trail also highlights the importance of partnership in creating opportunities for people to enjoy Newcastle’s parks, streets and green spaces.

Ouse Burn Way partner Northumbrian Water is supporting the trail with Patchwork Peter. Inspired by the importance of water in the natural environment, Patchwork Peter celebrates rivers, wildlife and plants through a vibrant design featuring blues and greens.

Newcastle City Council is also supporting the trail, with sculptures located at St Nicholas Square and Newcastle Civic Centre, adding to the colourful trail of artwork across the city.

For Ouse Burn Way visitors, the trail provides another reason to discover familiar places differently – connecting people with parks, riverside spaces, local attractions and the natural environment while supporting a fantastic local charity.

The sculptures are on display until 14 September, so there is still plenty of time to plan a family adventure. Why not follow part of the Ouse Burn Way, explore some of the trail locations and see how many Peter Rabbits and Fluffles you can spot along the way?
